Fisherman’s Twist
KNITTING PATTERN
This is a pattern I designed but decided to not publish. I am offering it as a free pattern here!
This is my favorite headband / earwarmer (whatever you may call it) to make! It is very simple, can easily be modified to work with any size yarn you have, and is very stretchy while holding it's shape nicely.
The length is customizable, as this is knit flat and joined together at the end. However, I have found that this pattern length works quite well for children - adults without adjustments!
My favorite yarn weight to use is holding light fingering with lace to get a DK weight project. It is not too bulky to wear, yet the lace gives an extra warmth to the piece. I have made many in bulky weight or even super bulky weight yarn, though; they make wonderful gifts too.

Pattern
C.O. using the long tail cast on method 30 (20, 14) sts.
Round 1: *p*
Round 2: *p1, k1b* repeat until 1 st remains, sl1
Repeat rounds 1 & 2 until the work measures 16" / 41cm.
Bind off the work by p2, pso, *p1, pso* repeat to the end.
Cut the yarn, leaving a tail of 12" / 31cm. Thread a tapestry needle with the tail and pull it through the last stitch.
Bring the two ends of the work together. Fold each in half and place the halves inside each other alternating ends. Using the tapestry needle with the yarn tail, *pull the needle through each aligning stitch of all the ends sewing the pieces together* repeat for all the stitches. Then weave in all the loose ends.
The sewed section will be the inside of the work, once it is all sewed flip the work inside out.
You now have a beautiful new headband!
Please do not sell this pattern as your own. I am offering this free in the hopes you will enjoy creating it. This is a simple pattern, and there are probably others out there similar, but this is my own version and I would appreciate that you respectfully acknowledge Sparrow Line as the designer.
Happy knitting friends.
